the interrupted making of cheese on a biscuit

chapter six

Taylor and Belinda were walking a little further along the beach after Zac and Thayet had left, when they came to a jetty. Holding hands, they wandered down the length of it, stopping at the end where they sat down with their legs dangling over the edge and watched the sun set over the water. It was a very pretty sight and was extremely romantic.
Taylor leant towards Belinda. They stared into each other’s eyes, once again in a daze. Taylor was about to kiss her when a mosquito bit him.
He gave a short, sharp yell of pain and jumped up. Unfortunately, he had forgotten that he was sitting with his feet dangling over the end of the jetty, and he jumped out into space.
Belinda watched horrified as he fell several metres into the deep water at the end of the jetty. He coughed and spluttered, trying to stay afloat, but his baggy pants and heavy shoes were weighing him down, not to mention the fact that there were extremely high waves.
Belinda didn’t hesitate for a second. Blessing the fact that she was wearing light, non-restricting clothes, she dived into the water after Taylor.
She was a good swimmer, and found it quite easy to grab him and sort of tow him to shore. Tay was doing his best to help her save him, but the fall had shocked him and knocked the wind out of him, and he was still dazed.
She dragged him up to the beach, and they just lay there for a few minutes, the warm sand moulded to the shape of their bodies. Once he had got his breath back, Taylor turned to Belinda.
“Thank-you, you saved my life,” he murmured. Belinda blushed, then noticed he was shivering.
“You’re cold,” she said.
“So are you,” he replied. She was shivering too. He went on, “These pants are freezing me! They’re so wet and baggy they aren’t drying out. I’d better take them off.”
Belinda blushed again.
“Don’t worry,” Taylor said. “I’ve got boxers on underneath.” He pulled off his wet, sandy silver pants, revealing a pair of red and white candy-striped boxers. "That's better," he sighed. "Those pants are so heavy." He had also removed his shoes. Bel took hers off, too.
“I’m still cold,” she remarked.
“Come here then,” Tay said. She scooted closer to him and he put an arm around her. “We can huddle together for warmth,” he whispered.
They sat like that for a while, until Taylor’s hormones got the better of him and he bent his head down and touched his lips to hers.
This kiss made up for the one the mosquito had interrupted earlier. They kissed again, and again, their kisses becoming increasingly intense. Taylor laid her back on the sand and moved on top of her. Their tongues met, in an ecstasy of delight, and his hands wandered to under her damp T-shirt.
They were so engrossed in what they were doing that they didn’t even notice the passer-by, who gasped at the sight of two teenagers having a full-on make-out session on a public beach, missing what would normally be considered vital parts of their clothing, and soaking wet, covered in sand.
The pedestrian hurried off. Tay and Bel didn't even look up, until...
“I just had sex! I just had sex! I JUST HAD SEX!!!”
Zac raced along the beach towards them, and ripped Taylor off Belinda. He didn’t even notice her. In fact, he kicked sand all over her. She just lay there.
“What?” Taylor snapped, justifiably annoyed.
“Man, I hafta talk to ya! Alone. Now!” Something in the tone of Zac’s voice conveyed a sense of urgency and importance, and Taylor sighed.
“Stay right there, OK, Bel. I’ll be back in a second."
Taylor pulled on his now drying pants and shoes and walked a little way down the beach with Zac. They sat down on the remains of some little kid’s sandcastle and his story came pouring out.
“Wow!” Said Tay. “My baby brother’s had sex before me!”
“What?!!” Yelled Zac. “You haven’t had sex yet?! My own brother is 15 years old and he’s still a virgin?! This is unbelievable! My faith in you is shattered! Anyway, what am I gonna do. I’ll never see Thayet again.”
“Well, Zacky,” said Tay, “That’s two firsts in one night for you. Congratulations on your first one-night stand."
“One-night stand?!” Zac exclaimed. “But I wanted more than that!”
“Oh, well. Let’s go talk to Ike about it. I’m sure he’s had sex tons of times, and not just with the toaster, either. We’ll ask him for advice.”
The two brothers walked off arm in arm.

Meanwhile...
Belinda was still lying on the sand, waiting for Tay to return...

Tay and Zac were about halfway back to the hotel when they heard a voice,
“HELP ME!!!” It screamed. It then calmed down somewhat and a fainter, “Dammit, Beavis, quit screwing around okay?”
Zac and Taylor looked at each other.
“Isaac,’ they both said. They followed the voice. It led to the Miami Beach Central Jail. The brothers walked down an alley beside the depressing-looking building. Ike’s voice way coming from a window with bars across it. The window, however, was too high for them to look through.
“Get on my shoulders,” Taylor told Zac.
After falling down about ten thousand million times, Zac was finally able to just see Isaac sitting on the damp concrete floor of a tiny jail cell.
“Isaac, we’ve come to save you!” Zac called through the iron bars.
“Give up,” Isaac yelled back. “This is a jail, there’s no way out. NO WAY OUT!!!”
Zac jumped off Taylor’s shoulders, knocking poor old Tay against the side of the building. Hard.
“Ow!!! Watch it, man!” Tay yelled.

Meanwhile...
Down on the beach, Belinda was still lying on the sand. The tide was coming in, and the water was quietly lapping at her bare feet.
